Hitler (1889-1945) became leader of Germany in 1933 and is mainly remembered for beginning World War II (1939-45). Germany lost the War but had many initial successes due to the quality of her troops' equipment. Heinkel (1888-1958) designed warplanes; one of his designs,the Heinkel He 178,was the first jet aircraft ever to fly on 27 August 1939. Messerschmitt (1898-1978) designed successful fighter aircraft.
