Lifted footprint. Dust residue lifted from a crime scene on a metallised film. This print has been recovered using electrostatic lifting apparatus (ESLA). The ESLA technique involves applying a high static charge to metallised foil placed over the print. This causes the dust particles to become attracted to the black underside of the film (seen here). The print is lit and then photographed. The image can be used to match the print against a suspect's shoe. This technique is used to recover prints in dry conditions | |
