Facial reconstruction. Image 3 of 7. Partially reconstructed face. Modelling clay has been placed over a plaster cast of a skull requiring identification. Pegs placed in the cast correspond to the depth of the facial muscles. These provide a guide to the forensic scientist when building up the muscle layers with modelling clay. The aim is to provide a likeness of the victim,which might allow them to be identified from missing persons records for example.
