Fire. Researcher studying a controlled fire for new fire detector research. The sensor at upper left is relaying information to the computer. Fires are chaotic and unpredictable systems, and are difficult to model. New detection systems use these fluctuations to separate dangerous fires from simple flashing lights and even candles. They measure temperature variations and smoke density and use "fuzzy logic" to distinguish real fires, greatly reducing false alarms. These sensors have been used in the Cerberus AlgoRex system from Siemens AG,based in Switzerland | |
