Electronic nose. Close-up view of the detector head of the NOSE (Neotronics Olfactory Sensing Equipment). NOSE is a device for obtaining objective analysis of the contents of a wide variety of odours and aromas. The detector consists of twelve conductive polymer sensors. The various components of a complex vapour react with the different sensors by changing their conductivities. These changes are measured and displayed to form a 'fingerprint' of each sample. NOSE may complement or even replace human quality control testers in the food, beverage, fragrance and tobacco industries. NOSE was developed by Neotronics Technology,a British company | |
