Bamboo shoots chopped and held in containers made from the adult bamboo. These shoots are edible,by both animals and humans, unlike the woody adult canes. The canes consist of hollow sections that can be formed into different shaped containers and dishes. The cup-shaped containers seen here are made from the end of a section by cutting across the cylindrical cane. Bamboo leaves are also seen in the background. Bamboo is a member of the grass family Gramineae. Bamboo is found in tropical and subtropical areas, most commonly in Asia | |
