| Paper. Scanning electron micrograph of paper used to make newspapers. The paper consists of cellulose fibres glued together. The pores of some of the plant cells are visible as dark,round areas. Cellulose is used by plant cells to provide structural support. It is a polymer comprised of repeated units of glucose sugar. Paper is made by breaking up a fibrous material such as wood and gluing the fibres together in a mat. The paper seen here is low-quality paper. Books and magazines require higher grades of paper.
