This is complementary to its genome,which is the list of all the genes in an organism. Genes are lengths of DNA that form the biochemical instructions needed to make proteins. Proteins form the vast majority of the tissues in an organism. Determining the structure and function of proteins (proteomics) provides a greater understanding of how an organism works.
