MODEL RELEASED. Human genome research. Technician removing frozen bacterial cultures containing fragments of human DNA from cryostorage. This is part of the human genome project. Human DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) fragments in these bacteria are cloned as the bacteria reproduce, allowing analysis of the DNA. DNA is the substance which controls every characteristic of an organism. The human genome project aims to find the base sequence of all the human genes, allowing for improved drug design and a greater understanding of genetic diseases.
