DNA NutriChip. Gloved hand holding a DNA NutriChip (a type of DNA BioChip). The NutriChip allows cheap and rapid simultaneous analyses for infectious organisms to be carried out on samples of food. It is seen under ultraviolet light here. The NutriChip is a glass slide holding dots of DNA (fluorescing white). Each dot contains a different piece of DNA,all of which are designed to bind to specific genes on the DNA of one of the organisms to be tested. The NutriChip is scanned by a laser, which highlights the dots on which a reaction has taken place, revealing the presence of the corresponding organism. The DNA NutriChip is made at BioChip Technologies,of Freiburg,Germany | |
