Human gene bank. Researcher's gloved hands place package containing all human genes (a human gene bank) into deep freeze. The package is stored at -80 degrees centigrade. Each sample tube contains a particular region of the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) found on any one of the 48 chromosomes from a human cell. These fragments have been cloned and stored. Taken as a whole, the tubes contain all the DNA found in a human cell, and can therefore be called a human gene bank. Gene banks are commonly used during the human genome project, which aims to identify and map all human genes | |
