Aztec pictographs. Historical artwork of the Aztec pictographs for the days of the month. The Aztecs adopted the Mayan calendar of 18 months of 20 days. The remaining 5 days of the year, the hollow days, were regarded as being unlucky. Writings such as these would have been made on paper or animal hides. Pictographic writing uses symbols or pictures to represent words. This artwork was taken from a book published in 1814 | |
