Oil pollution clean-up. Team of workers deploying a floating boom to stop further oil pollution of a beach. The boom works because oil is lighter than water and floats on or near the surface. Although these booms stop most of the oil, they are unable to prevent some of it from continuing to spread. This slick originated in a spill of about 70,000 tonnes of light crude oil from the oil tanker Sea Empress off the coast of Milford Haven,Wales,in February 1996.
