London and the south-east of England seen from space. Greater London is seen just left of centre. The predominant yellow fields contain flowering rape plants. The blue, snaking line of the River Thames is also particlularly clear, and many bridges in London may be seen. Many motorways are also visible as thin white lines, including the M25 which circles Greater London. Rich underwater patterns of sand and mud deposits are seen in the Thames Estuary (top right). The white dots in the Estuary are ships' wakes. This mosaic is created from data gathered by the Landsat-5 satellite | |
