| Poppy field irrigation. Row of sprinklers positioned in a field of opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). This poppy is the source of opium,a narcotic resin that contains the alkaloids morphine and codeine. These are used by the pharmaceutical industry as painkillers (analgesics).
