Gozo salt pans,Qbaijar,Malta. Shallow pools in limestone rock along an island shore. These pools have formed naturally through erosion of the rock. Seawater becomes trapped in the pools and evaporates, leaving deposits of salt. The salt is harvested by local people and sold. Salt has been harvested in this way on Gozo for thousands of years | |
