Peyto Lake. Glacial sediment (at left) entering Peyto Lake in the Banff National Park,Canada. The surrounding slopes are dominated by conifer forests. Peyto Lake is fed by meltwater from glaciers. As a result, the lake is full of silt and minerals giving it the almost opaque blue colour when seen from a distance.
