Dinosaur bone. Hand holding a fossilised part of a leg bone from an Allosaurus dinosaur. This is part of the fibula bone, one of the two bones that runs between the knee and the ankle in vertebrates. Allosaurus was a large carnivore which lived during the Jurassic period, between 155 and 135 million years ago. It grew up to 12 metres in length and was supported on its two pillar-like back legs.
