Trilobite fossil. Fossil of the trilobite Fallotaspis typica. This trilobite lived from the Lower to the Middle Cambrian period (around 570- 550 million years ago). The long spine-like structures on the head and thorax (centre left and right) are characteristic of the Fallotaspis group. Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods with a hard, segmented shell that is divided into 3 sections. Most were bottom dwellers, feeding on organic sediment on the ocean floor or by catching their own prey. Found in Morocco | |
