Sunstones. Sunstone is a variety of plagioclase feldspar (sodium calcium aluminium silicate) which has tiny flecks of haematite (iron oxide) and other minerals embedded within it. The plagioclase feldspars include albite, oligoclase, labradorite and anorthite. They form an isomorphous series, having the same basic composition and crystal structure, but containing varying proportions of sodium and calcium. Sunstones are found in Norway,Canada and the USSR and are used in jewellery | |
