Mineral deposits. Geyserite, clay and other mineral deposits in a hydrothermal area. Water superheated by geothermal activity dissolves many of the minerals in surrounding rocks underground. When the water escapes to the surface its power as a solvent is reduced,so the minerals are precipitated, forming deposits. Photographed at Yellowstone National Park,Wyoming,USA | |
