Folded rock strata. Coastal cliffs formed from contorted Silurian rock strata. Silurian rocks include sandstones, limestones, shales and mudstones that were laid down between 440 and 395 million years ago. Subsequent uplifting and folding of the land due to tectonic activity has caused the bedding planes to fold. Photographed at Cwm Tydu,Cardigan Bay,Wales | |
