| Aerial view of waves breaking on a coastal shoreline. The lines of posts seen extending into the sea are groynes,walls erected to prevent the movement of sand along the coast. This movement is known as long-shore drift,and was responsible for the formation of the long peninsula of Spurn Head seen here.
