Vatnajokull glacier outflow,Iceland. This glacier flows off the large Vatnojkull ice-cap up to the point seen. Meltwater flowing off the glacier forms the coastal estuary seen in the foreground. The Vatnajkull ice-cap glacier is the largest in Europe. It covers 8% of Iceland and its average thickness is 400 metres. It covers several active volcanos. The weight of the ice causes it to flow downhill to the sea, forming many glaciers. This outflow is in Skaftafell National Park,Iceland | |
