Icebergs in a glacial lagoon,Iceland. The lagoon and the icebergs have formed from meltwater and ice from the large Vatnajokull Glacier. Parts of the glacier are seen in the background. The lagoon outlet flows into the nearby sea. The lagoon (the Jokulsarlon Ice Lagoon) did not appear until the 1930s as the glacier began to melt and retreat inland from the coast. The clear pale blue of the glacial ice and lagoon is now a major tourist attraction | |
