MODEL RELEASED. Air analysis. Scientist notes the level of carbon dioxide gas in a sample of air using a non-dispersive infrared gas analyser (at upper right). Carbon dioxide is a "greenhouse gas" that traps heat in the atmosphere, and which could change the world's climate. Each hour this equipment compares the concentration of atmospher- ic carbon dioxide to those in reference gases for calibration purposes. Before analysis, the gas is dried by a dryer (at lower left) which contains alcohol at -60 degrees celsius. Photographed at the Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station in Tasmania,Australia | |
