Clouds. Cirrus and altocumulus clouds fill a darkening sky over the silhouette of a tree. The white, wispy clouds at the top of the picture are cirrus. The darker, grey clouds at the bottom are altocumulus. Cirrus clouds are thin, feathery clouds that occur at high altitudes (6000-12000 metres) and are made of tiny ice crystals. Altocu- mulus clouds occur at middle altitudes (2400-6000 metres). They usually consist of water droplets rather than ice,and vary in colour from white to black | |
