Harris' Voyages is a compilation of European knowledge of the world in the mid eighteenth century. An earlier version of this image is from 1706 "Three Years Travels from Moscow over-land to China" by Evert Ysbrants Ides Ides,(London). Tungusic peoples inhabit Eastern Siberia and are recognized as distinct from Mongols and Turkic peoples. The first European description of a Tungusic people was by the Dutch traveller Isaac Massa in 1612. Such people may have had a role in populating the Americas via the coast and Beiring land bridge,and similarities in dress and features can here be seen | |
