Lepidolite (KLi2Al(Al,Si)3O10(F,OH)2 is a phyllosilicate mineral of which the crystal system is monoclinic. It belongs to the mica group of minerals and like them occurs in tabular, flaky crystals that may be white,lilac-gray,rose or,more rarely,yellow-colored. It is an ore of lithium and also one of the major sources of the rare alkali metals rubidium and cesium. It is formed in granitic pegmatites where it is associated with other lithium-bearing minerals like spodumene. Actual width of sample is 120 mm,provenance unknown | |
