A qualified guide escorts a tourist on foot up to a wild but habituated male African elephant (Loxodonta africana). Elephants are herbivores and are the world's largest and heaviest land animals. Adult females and their young live in large social groups, whereas males lead largely solitary lives. Female African elephants are less predictable and guides usually only approach bull elephants on foot. Photographed in Mana Pools,Zimbabwe | |
