Svante and Olof Arrhenius,chemists
Swedish chemists Svante August Arrhenius (1859-1927,left) and his son Olof Vilhelm Arrhenius (1895-1977). Svante is best known as one of the founders of physical chemistry. He received the 1902 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and became director of the Nobel Institute in 1905. The Arrhenius equation,Arrhenius definition of an acid,lunar crater Arrhenius,the mountain of Arrheniusfjellet and the Arrhenius Labs at Stockholm University are named after him. Olof implemented the measurement of pH using colourimetric methods and was interested in the impact of soil chemistry on the earthworm. He later moved to the USA where he worked for NASA.
