Biologists Nikolai Petrovich Dubinin (1907-1998,right) and Harold Henry Plough (left). Dubinin was one of the founding members of the Cytology and Genetics Institute within the USSR Academy of Sciences,directing the Institute from 1957-59. Together with Belyaev,Dubinin worked to restore the science of genetics in the USSR after it had been declared a banned pseudoscience in the 1940s under the influence of Trofim Lysenko and Communist politics.
