Closed turbine water flow. Historical illustration of a closed water flow design for turbines,a design also used to separate bodies of water at different levels (e.g. canals,hydroelectric power stations). The water at the higher level is held back by a sluice gate (right). When opened,water flows down a tube to the lower level (bottom right). A turbine placed in the tube can be used to generate electricity and power.
