Environmental protest. People marching to Blair Mountain,West Virginia,USA,in protest against the use of mountaintop removal mining. This mining technique uses explosives to remove layers of rock and soil above a coal seam. The removed material is dumped into nearby valleys. This technique has serious environmental impacts,including loss of biodiversity,water pollution and air pollution.
