It is caused by a DNA pox virus called the molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV). Large numbers of yellow pox virus particle are contained in an infected cell called a molluscum body. Although highly infectious most people are immune to the virus with mainly young children,the sexually active and people with a weaken immune system affected.
