Gerard Leendertsz Blasius (1627-1682),Dutch anatomist and physician,pointing to an anatomical figure in a book. The inscription (not shown) describes him as a medical doctor and a professor. After qualifying as a doctor,Blasius was appointed in 1659 to teach at the Athenaeum Illustre of Amsterdam,becoming a professor in 1660.
