Born in 1888 to Polish-Jewish immigrant parents,he ran bootlegging and gambling outfits during Prohibition,and later an illegal drugs ring. He was convicted of tax evasion in 1933,and eventually arrested again in 1951 on drugs charges. He died in Alcatraz in 1952 | |
