Yolk sac tumour,light micrograph of an affected testis. A testicular yolk sac tumour is the most common childhood testicular tumour (80%),with most cases occuring before the age of two years. Schiller-Duval bodies are a marker of the tumor and are present as a cluster of tumor cells surrounding blood vessels (yellow). Although highly malignant when treated promptly with surgery and chemotherapy,death from testicular yolk sac tumours is exceedingly rare. Magnification: x 150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
