Bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus). This large eagle is found throughout North America,generally living close to water. It feeds mainly on fish,water birds and carrion,and can reach a length of around 75 centimetres. Despite its name it is not actually bald: its head is covered with white feathers.
