Seagull Nebula,combined optical and infrared image. This star formation region is around 3500 light years distant on the borders of the constellations of Monoceros and Canis Major. At centre is the 'head' of the seagull,the emission nebula IC 2177. This wide-field view was created from images forming part of the Digitized Sky Survey 2.
