Metal dewetting. Nickel annular rings (red) created by a combination of electron beam lithography, metallization and pulsed laser melting. These annular rings are supported on an SiO2 (silicon dioxide) surface (brown). Dewetting is the rupture of a thin liquid film on a substrate,in this case these molten nickel rings.
