Vascular malformation. Light micrograph of a section through skin showing a glomuvenous malformation (GVM). This is a rare vascular (blood vessel) malformation that also involves glomus body cells, which are involved in temperature regulation. The blood vessels (white) are thin-walled and distorted, and surrounded by variable rows of glomus cells (purple). The lesions can be painful, especially when knocked or exposed to extreme temperature changes. Magnification: x150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue | |
