It is formed when methane,produced by microorganisms at the bottom of the lake,becomes trapped in water molecules under the high pressure and low temperature conditions of the lake bed. The resulting opaque,ice-like solid methane hydrate (circular white objects in image) offers a potentially vast untapped form of fossil fuel energy
