Favites sp. coral fluorescing under blue light. This coralis also known as moon coral or pineapple coral. A transparent shrimp can be seen top middle. Some species of coral emit a fluorescent glow. It is thought the glow may attract symbiotic algae,or protect the coral from the intense ultraviolet light of the sun in shallow water. Photographed in the Red Sea,Egypt | |
