Jack Broughton (1705-1789). Pugilist/Boxer. Portrait. Recognised as 'The Father of the English School of Boxing' and as 'the Father of the Science of the Art of Self-Defense'. He was reigning champion from 1738 to 1752. Buried in Westminster Abbey in remembrance of his contribution to English boxing.
