Daughter of Asclepius,the Greek god of medicine and healing,son of Apollo,Hygeia was the goddess of good health,cleanliness,and sanitation. In classical sculpture she was frequently represented as a woman with a serpent or snake coiled about one arm,and offering it an egg or food from a medicine bowl.
