Plancheite mineral. This hydrated copper silicate mineral has the formula Cu8.Si8.O22.(OH)4.H2O,and is in the orthorhombic crystal class. It is a secondary mineral formed in the oxidized zone of copper mineral deposits. This sample,4.5 centimetres across,is from the Shangulowe mine in the Kambove district of Katanga Province,Democratic Republic of the Congo.
