Logging with tracked tractor. Foresters using a tractor with caterpillar tracks to haul logs. Several types of continuous track vehicles were invented in the 19th century,but the first successful commercial models appeared in the early 1900s. First using steam and then petrol engines,they were used in farming and in logging,and by the time of World War I had been adapted for use in tanks and to haul artillery. This one is being used by the US Reclamation Service to haul logs near the Kachess River,near Easton,Washington State,USA. Photographed on 6 June 1914
