Alexander G. Bell with his future wife. Artwork of Scottish-US inventor and telephone pioneer Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922) with his future wife Mabel Gardiner Hubbard (1857-1923) and a telephone (lower centre). Mabel,who became deaf from the age of five,was one of Bell's private pupils when he was a teacher of the deaf and professor of Vocal Physiology and Elocution in Boston,USA. They married in 1877,a few days after Bell's acceptance by Mabel's family was assured with the establishment of the Bell Telephone Company. They went on to raise a family of two daughters
