Diademed sifaka (Propithecus diadema) jumping. This arboreal lemur is found in eastern and north-eastern Madagascar. It is one of the largest of the lemurs, with a body length of up to 55 centimetres. It feeds on leaves, seeds, fruits and flowers. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed at Vakona Lodge,Perinet Reserve,Madagascar | |
